Every so often
It’s not an unusual shot, historical record or of any real significance. Yet the combination of a camera phone, a camera phone app and a teaspoon of boredom were enough to make a shot interesting.
I keep meaning to bring a medium format camera with me for those trips as I seem to have an affinity for the square format.
Barcelona Marathon 2013
The interesting thing about running a marathon is really, encountering the people who have chosen to run it and those who come to support the runners. Barcelona was a great experience, and the stoic yet warm nature of the people was so obvious. I think I’ll run this one again. Any society, I believe, is preserved by it’s own sense of humour, and protest, can be subtle and determined.
iPhone ever ready
The iPhone is a fun note taker. As much for it’s ability to process pictures in camera as for it’s image quality, which is fine as a note taker.
Photographers, especially neophytes, crave symmetry. Symmetry in gear, composition, exposure. Indeed sometimes old dogs have to break the ‘mould’ (sic) and learn from the happy mistakes of the young.
This picture was processed through the Best Picture app and then put through the Photoshop app, Photoshop has extended it’s library of frames and 99.99% are crap. In fact the one frame I loved and would actually pay for is gone. That’s the big problem with these apps. A lack of consistency.
Consistency is one of those things all snappers should crave.
Loads of Travelling
Once again it’s copious amounts of car time. The last three weeks have been just one constant road trip after another with a couple of days at home. The kids are beginning to notice my absence. I picked up a hamstring injury preparing for a marathon in November and thanks to all the car time it’s not really improving, it just seems to rotate around and around the upper leg and hip. Bummer.
I’ll just have to parcel up some sympathy and leave it under the christmas tree for Christmas day. Mmm, some sympathy, with a few glasses of Connemara Peated Single Malt, some good food and the kids creating havoc. All this before 7am. Never mind the hamstring, bring on the nut loaf…
